Limnads are mythological creatures specifically tied to marshes, lakes, ponds, and other freshwater habitats. They reside in their watery domains, overseeing and protecting the well-being of their homes, and ensuring the health and purity of the waters. Like other nymphs, they are shapeshifters that usually appear as elegant and alluring maidens. However, they can also manifest in many forms, and are often depicted as dragonflies.
